Question: |
Will the spraying affect my lawn and shrubs if I draw water from the lake? |
Response:
|
Estate Management Services recommends you do not water if you draw from the lake for 7 days after there has been a treatment applied. It is our intent to have the dates of proposed and actual treatments on this web site. Click to go to TREATMENT SCHEDULE If you live on the lake and draw water for lawns and shrubs. In the past we have asked individuals living on the lake or creek to provide an email address so we could easily communicate when a treatment is scheduled. No one has done so to date so you are dependent on this site to provide treatment information. Please understand we are trying to make this as informative and as simple as possible, as we are also volunteers. |

Question: |
How big is St Clair Lake? |
Response: |
The lake is estimated to be 13.5 acres. That also places us in a threshold that requires the our eradication program to be done by certified individuals. |
|
Question: |
Could we reduce the number of treatments to save money? |
Response: |
We are not actually paying for per treatment. We have an annual plan with Estate Management and we pay on a monthly basis to ease the financial burden on the association. Rather paying the approximately $ 6500 in one lump payment it is pro-rated into twelve payments. The testing ensures a pro-active stance and allows serious issues to be identified and corrected quickly. There have been occasions when issues, that could have had serious ramifications if they were not found during testing were in fact identified and corrected. Please review the pictures on this site from previous years so you can see the ramifications associated with not treating the lake. Sadly, lakes and ponds of this nature can quickly become overcome by infestation and even waterborne diseases that can become serious health and safety issues. Fortunately our lake has remained healthy and safe but those drawing water from the lake should still do so with caution. |

Question: |
Is paying mandatory? |
Response: |
The lake is a neighborhood benefit and one of our natural resources. These is no way given our situation we can make paying for the services that are needed mandatory. We are hopeful that individuals see it as a responsibility to take appropriate care of our this resource and neighborhood. From our previous experience that began in 2006, was halted and then retarted in 2013, we know that many of the homeowners will pay their fair share. They understand when they do not share in the costs others have to pick up the burden. It is just like the committee members- they are caring homeowners who have stepped up from their busy lives to solve a problem and unfortunately the solution has fixed costs. We should all feel obliged to contribute and sincerely hope that all homeowners feel will equally obliged to pay their fair share. While many do participate it would make the job easier and we would be able to go longer between fund raising if more individuals contributed. |
